Summertime Maternity Session

In Oregon, there is nothing quite like the sun-soaked filled evenings spent with expectant families.
There’s a sort of carefree attitude around, with littles running in circles,
mom has a lazy smile on her face as she holds onto her belly.
The sunlight is streaming through various branches and everyone has this golden glow
during their summertime maternity session.
I definitely definitely miss this time during the cold, gray winter.
(I’m a sun lover, that’s why I lived in Phoenix for so long before moving here!)

This stunning woman invited me to explore part of her husband’s family farm property in Yamhill, Oregon, on a July evening.
A place where he grew up running around and now they get to watch their littles on their own adventures.

Funny story, I was actually pregnant at the time I took these photos. This mama was about 1 month ahead of me!

I am still cracking up over the fact that these two rascals tried to “hide” underneath her dress, ha ha!

I am back from my own recent maternity leave and itching to get back to meeting and connecting with families who are in the pregnancy season of life.
The best time to reach out for maternity shoots is as soon as you know you are pregnant or when you announce it to the world (I can do those photos too!),

    I continue to follow along with the Doyle’s first year of parenthood and document their new normal after bringing sweet baby Elodie home to their townhouse in Portland, Oregon. (We started with their maternity session at Pittock Mansion)

    The simple white onesie, do you know why I love it? These teeny babes are so new and so fresh, their world is just as simple as that onesie. They don’t have a favorite color or character, they are a blank canvas 🖤

    One of the first questions I’ll ask when you book your lifestyle newborn in-home session is, “Where’s the best light?”

    I’m a sucker for a gorgeous window full of light. You can have the tiniest home and all you need is one window to create beautiful moments.

    You can see how dark their rest of the room is behind mom and dad, but that soft, overcast Portland light creates such an incredible spotlight on this family.

      Meeting you in your space – Portland Lifestyle Family Photographer

The day-to-day and hour-to-hour of our lives is the biggest part. It’s loud, it’s energy, it’s sweet, it’s fking wild.       After some quick snuggles come the bubbles! I love how he fits on her legs for airplane. In a couple years he will be too long and she will look back at this photo.

        a bittersweet farewell…

        It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closure of Meg Ross Photography. After much reflection and consideration following the death of my husband and children's father, I have made the difficult decision to close my business. This decision was not made lightly, and it comes after a great deal of contemplation about healing from grief and how to best show up for my children..

         

        I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for allowing me to be a part of your special moments. It has been an honor and a privilege to capture the beauty and emotion of childbirth for so many families. Your trust and support have meant the world to me, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of your lives.
